Counseling 4 Kids
For my capstone project at UCLA Extension, myself and another student were tasked with rebranding a nonprofit organization. Mental health is important to both of us and when we discovered Counseling 4 Kids and learned about the amazing work they do, like provided free in-home therapy sessions to foster children, the decision practically made itself. We rebranded the organization with 3 goals in mind: to better visually represent and reflect their values and goals, to raise awareness to their organization, and have that all feed into fundraising and attracting donors. We came up with brand guidelines, ad strategies, a website refresh, and fundraising event to achieve these goals. Below is our process book and our results, all done by myself and Katie Sigurdson.
Website
Counseling 4 Kids desperately needed a visual upgrade of their Instagram and their digital strategy. To take advantage of platform features and keeping our goals in mind, we came up with 3 different components. The first is an Instagram stories series to educate and raise awareness about foster kids that can be seen by their followers and run as ads. The second takes advantage of the ‘swipe up’ feature to fundraise and provide kids with much needed backpacks. Lastly, to bring an interactive element, we mocked up a quiz filter to get the followers more involved.

Charity Event - Walking 4 Kids
One of the most important things for any charity is fundraising and attracting donors. To achieve this, we came up with an event, and 3.3K walk meant to represent the 33,000 kids in LA foster care called ‘Walking 4 Kids.’ We designed this event to be a welcoming, family friendly event that was both a learning and fun experience.
