The Consulting Nest: Marketplace Website

About this Project

The Industry Design project (IDP) is a springboard program that matches students with a company to provide real working experience. This project spanned 4 weeks and involved myself and one other student. For my IDP, myself and my partner were paired with The Consulting Nest, a marketplace aimed at connecting highly qualified and vetted consultants.

Problem Statement

The client was mainly looking for 3 things: a community resource center, simplifying the signup process, and a project page where client and contractor could easily see the status and history of the project. The community resource section was particularly important as it was a unique feature the founder wanted that would help their business stand out. The signup process currently has two seperate services for signup and billing so that needed to be combined. Lastly, they wanted to up the functionality of their project page as they didn’t have
customization capabilities.

Initial Call & Research

The first half of the project was spent learning the existing product, understanding the business goals, researching their competitors, and figuring out what they needed from us.

Wireframes

After discussing the goals, scope of project, and timeframe with the client, they determined that wireframes would best serve them at this time and help set them up for future success with their website. Our main goals were to build them a community resource center, sign up page, and project page.

Community Hub

This page serves as the center for the community tab. Here users can look for forums, trending conversations, topics of discussions, and spotlighted members

Resources

This page serves as a repository so to speak. Here users can access, download, and upload documents such as templates, example contracts.

Topics

This wireframe shows what the topics page would look like. Here users can view all topics and/or search within the topic.

Project Details

Here we built out features that will increase the functionality of the project page. Clear indications of payment status and history, project status, and payment options all were needed. We also added a payment log to help both parties stay updated.

Signup Page

The main problem with their current signup page was signup and payment being separate. These screens show they could look combined.
